Playing the Long Game
A weekly prescription for staying healthy after 40.
Why the Long Game Matters
If you spend any time online looking at health advice, it can feel overwhelming. One article tells you to cut carbs. Another says eat more of them. One expert says you must do high-intensity workouts, another says walking is enough.
It’s not always obvious who to trust, or which changes actually make a meaningful difference. What we do know from decades of medical research is that many of the biggest health risks later in life develop slowly, often beginning quietly in midlife. The encouraging part is that the habits that protect our health work in exactly the same way.Small, consistent changes - staying strong, keeping active, looking after metabolic health - add up over time.Playing the long game simply means focusing on the habits that genuinely move the needle for your health 10, 20 and 30 years from now. That’s what I focus on here.
